What does it mean to be accredited as a COEMIG facility?
Southwell Medical has met nationally & internationally recognized standards by receiving this designation. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek accreditation; not all that undergo the rigorous requirements and inspection process are granted accreditation.
The team at Southwell Medical had to undergo an extensive self-assessment and inspection process. This includes physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in the accredited program. The inspection is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization or surgeon improve its care and services.
This accreditation signals that Southwell Medical is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.
Dr. Clifton performs all surgeries and procedures at Southwell Medical, located in Adel.
Dr. Clifton is the only provider within the region who has attained a Focused Practice Designation in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery awarded by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Surgeons trained in minimally invasive procedures are able to treat a wide range of gyn conditions which result in improved outcomes, reduced discomfort, shorter recoveries and reduced inconvenience and expense. Surgical techniques include hysteroscopy, which requires no incisions and minimal recovery, but also advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery for complex procedures required to treat severe endometriosis, uterine fibroids and adnexal or ovarian tumors. Vaginal procedures are the least invasive and are performed for prolapse or urinary incontinence and have the advantage of shorter recovery and no abdominal incisions.
